Opportunities

Here is a listing of opportunities available to undergraduate, graduate, and even high school students within the UW Madison engineering community.

Hilldale Undergraduate/Faculty Research Fellowship provides research training and support to undergraduates. Students have the opportunity to undertake their own research project in collaboration with UW–Madison faculty or research/instructional academic staff.

Holstrom Environmental Research Fellowship provides research training and support to undergraduates interested in environmental research. Students have the opportunity to undertake their own research project in collaboration with UW–Madison faculty or research/instructional academic staff.

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program of the University of Wisconsin, College of Engineering (COE) and Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) – These programs give priority to undergraduate students from underrepresented groups.

Madison Metropolitan School District Science Research Internship Program, aimed at giving high school students an opportunity to experience the process of scientific research.  Students mentored have participated in National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense (DOD), Water Research Foundation, and industry-sponsored projects.

Biotechnology Youth Apprenticeship Program, organized by the Dane County School Consortium and the Biopharmaceutical Technology Center (BTC), with primary sponsorship from Promega Corporation (Madison, WI). High school students in the program receive a state certified Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) certificate. Application Form

Graduate Engineering Research Scholars (GERS) program of the University of Wisconsin, College of Engineering (COE). GERS is a fellowship program designed to offer underrepresented graduate students a support network of peers and professional development opportunities.
